In that case, the acceleration would be more problematic than the top speed. 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) takes about 29-30 seconds. A beetle takes about 18 seconds. The average modern car takes 9. It's slow enough that Twilight could be rear-ended when she tries to merge onto the freeway - if Equestria had any highways, that is.
