Description A ward corridor in the now heavily-photographed derelict West Park Hospital, a former asylum in Epsom, Surrey. Just around the corner is the padded cell, the only one known to be still in situ in a derelict mental hospital in the UK.

Wow, great shot. It really conveys a sense of isolation and abandonment, and the odd angle suggests the insane element of the surroundings. Great stuff.

Thanks, it was a bit of a spontaneous shot. These places are best visited in the Autumn I feel; yes it is a bit colder but the sun is lower in the sky and creates some terrific lighting situations

Thanks, I'm not usually a fan of HDR as people tend to overuse it, so I try to use it sparingly and combine it with other techniques.

Your black and white work is stunning

I understand what you mean about hdr. i think the same, and i really appreciate it when it's used to highlight and emphasize some particular aspect like in this case.

I'm glad you like my work 'cause i'm not always sure when i make some b/w shot. I think the b/w is overused too. Someone think that it's enough to desaturate an image to make it more "artistic", but i don't conceive it like that.

Yes, like with HDR it is very easy to get carried away with the B&W. I am a real lover of B&W when it is quite high contrast, but still retains texture. When I shoot film I find Ilford HP5 pushed to ISO800 is fantastic for this

Yup, i'm starting with film in those months and i prefer Ilford too in b/w!
