We wanted to do this tribute since a couple months now, we were just waiting for the right circumstances to fall in place to shoot it. The book is "Les fleurs du mal" by Charles Baudelaire of course. Last year was the 150th anniversary of the 1st publication. Here, Meli is reading an old & cheap edition from 1944 that I bought for around 2 bucks some years ago, it's in poor state but I don't mind when books show use (and abuse!

Again the sense of the theatrical is evident. On one hand the almost medieval setting throw off centre by the textured surface in the bottom right hand corner. Subtle lighting that gives great effect on such a beautiful subject as Meli. The care you show for your compositions can only reflect the care you show for your Muse. The world would be a finer place if a few more people echoed the love which I sense within your work.
I would rather see a book which had lived the life it was meant for, to inform, educate, amuse and inspire. A book which has not lead such a life is a missed opportunity.
What next, 'The Flowers of Romance'?

To be honest, this is one of the two shots we were the most proud from this set, the other one still waiting to be posted... We tried to keep the focus on that mild horror feel (but still not totally there) and theatral looking atmosphere. I highly appreciate that you pointed out the lighting and composition here, I was quite happy of it.
I couldn't agree more with you about used books, and the good part too is they are way less expensive too.
