When I look at your self-portraits I can't help feeling you would have preferred an aquatic or at least semi-aquatic life.

now i do. what i prefer is when i lay on my back with my ears under water level. (this is taking your semi-aquatic expression to the limits of literal)
then if we want to talk about the symbolism of it, maybe i am preparing to the "adventure" of life in reverse. i'm now at the last stage, the amniotic phase.
unfortunately, in both ways, i never could learn to hold my breath under the water.

I was never adaptable. Maybe that makes it easier, I don't know better. Here's a story about me I love: when I went to nursery school, after a week or so they took me aside and explained to me that the idea was that I was supposed to learn to speak Dutch, and not for me to teach the entire school to speak English. Haha, I must be a natural-born teacher, somewhere deep inside!

Ok, the something else then.. Of course I have no idea what it's about exactly, but there are plenty of hooks for my imagination to hold onto and fill in the blanks. And that's called poetry, isn't it?
(I have to admit, I had to re-read it N times, but hey, maybe the most elusive poetry is the best in the end)
