aah perfect quality, as always! I especially love her hair!
wahh you're going to so many conventions! I honestly never thought of the possibility to sell stuff as artists on conventions, even though it's such an obvious possibility! I'M JUST SO SLOW AT REALIZING THINGS UGGHGUH I would love to be able to do that one day too /daydreams
how does this actually work? If you've got time one day, I'd love if you could tell me your stories c:

thank you!!!
Well, you need to apply first (watch out for cut offs and time limits), and make sure you have a really nice website or gallery full of your best work up to apply with.
I use animecons.com to find conventions, as well as Artist Alley International on Facebook. ;v;

Ahhh I see... mmm oh! They even have German conventions on that website! Well, there aren't that much conventions in Germany (where I live) as in America, so it's quite easy to find conventions to go to since there are less to pick xP
When you were chosen, what exactly are you doing on the convention? I mean, I've been on conventions before but I didn't really care about that (I'm a bad person...). You basically have a stand there and... you have some selfmade goodies to sell, and,, umm.. what else...?

You're from Germany!? Cool! My dad was like 100% German and used to speak it when he was little. Even got a German last name: Weiland. (Which we pronounce incorrectly.)Β
COOOOOOLLLLL I wanna go to Germany!!!
So, for the conventions, when they accept you, you pay for your table, they'll give you an information packet, and you show up and set up.
Our set up usually looks kinda like this:

And to be an artist, you need to make everything yourself, which can be a HUGE undertaking to start with!
Most people sell 2D art prints, buttons, and shrinky dink keychains. (Here's a cool tutorial:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n021mβ¦ , Though there is also inkjet printable shrink plastic available.)Β
I sell a lot more because I can't decide what i want to do. >.<
Here's my temporary website so you can see what i do.
fantasmshop.wix.com/fantasmshoβ¦
I use clamps and pvc pipe to create my print display and wire cages to create my badge display.Β

ahah what a surprise!
umm you sure that's German? I never heard or seen it before tbh. Or it's an old German name, idk o-O
here's really nothing interesting x) America must be way more exciting!!
wooooh this is yours?! Looks so..so I'm stunned O-O You offer so many things! And they're all selfmade... Wow...
as for me, I can't do anything than drawing (more or less drawing....)
I'm not sure, but I have that feeling that it's different from your conventions in America and here in Germany... most artists and their tables I have seen are more like...an atelier? than a shop. They show their drawing stuff, draw themselves on tablet/paper and wait for commissions to get in, at least that's how I saw it. It's been a year that I visited a convention because no $$$ so these are only some vague memories.
Ohh.. first time I see those shrinky dinks o-O
ohh those chibi badges are lovely!! I'd definitely buy some if I could x) *cough* YOU NEED TO DO ONE PIECE BADGES IF YOU HAVEN'T YET. *cough*
Ohh Kimber is your art partner? I had no idea XD
oh god, I don't think I'd ever be able to make those badges and poster stuff. I don't have the tools and there are no appropiate shops around my village either... I thought you just have to offer commissions to be accepted, but if you have to offer actual goodies, then I guess I definitely have to pass ;-; but thank you for telling me!! I love hearing stories like these!! They feel so far away from me, but maybe.. someday! ..maybe

Yeah! It's German. All the Weiland's left for America in the 1920's or 1930's. ;v;
Ehh. There's nothing around here either. I jsut order everything from Amazon lol.
I think you can do it!
And maybe be the first in Germany to do something like that!

I see! Then it's no surprise I don't know that name, haha!
Oh, really? Im wondering, is there even a big profit? I mean, you have to order all those materials to make the badges and stuff.
ughughuh I'm honored you think I can do it, but atm I feel very inconfident about my art ._."
I think I'm rushing too much... I should take my time to become slowly better, at least in drawing, and maybe someday I can try to create real things.
hehehe.. I'm wondering, Finny, you do that since quite some time, don't you? You're probably already famous around those conventions ; v ; I'M TALKING TO A REAL STARRR.

Oh no. Not at all yet. I've only been in the convention circuit for a year now, so nobody knows me yet. XD
And, I get all my materials really cheap. My profit margin is really high. I make everything myself, so I only have to pay for the materials!
I get my prints at about 85 cents each, and my fabric at like $5-$10 a yard! And printer paper is really cheap.
You have to do a lot of shopping and waiting to get the right price though.
And depending on what you sale, you can make a lot of money.

I do these things full time, but Kimber doesn't.Β
I do have a big banner! It says "Fantasm" though, since Finnian is just my online handle though!
