Description After figuring out how to draw more realistic looking wolf faces, I had to try it. First it was supposed to be an old character of mine, the shaman Flare from Falcon's tribe, but Flare has green fire tatto on his chest and the markings around his eyes are different. So maybe this is Red, Flare's father. Haven't drawn him before.

Red has came to sacret cave for some ritual. He set blue shaman fire to floating cup and drew small circle to the ground before started.

All of the cavepaintings on the wall have their own meaning. The five ones above Red symbolise their greatest gods and goddesses. Above his head there's Hunter, who's often described as red anthro wolf with spear and flaming eyes, above that there's the Thunder bird, the great bringer of rain . Then there's the most important goddess, The Moon (or Melketh). Right from that theres Umai, the goddess of water and everything that lives in it (often described as a salmon), and the last one is Gea, the goddess of Earth (Yes, I know that female deers don't have horns, but Gea is sumbolised as a badger or a deer, and the gender of the symbol isn't so important to them). As some humans did in stone age (at least in Finland), the wolf-people usually draw the place of heart showing in their cavepaintings and other art. That's the white spot in the picture's chest.

The left three symbols have really nothing to do with my wolf-people, there just was too much space, so I filled it that way. The lowest one of them is my own personal mark, and ten points to the person who can recognise the two above. They are not my inventions, though I have seen them only twice, but I still think that they were drawn like that. Anyone, wanna guess?

one of the symbols on the left is three moons. Often an wiccan symbol.

What type of tools did you use on this? I only ask because I'm doing a project for school and the colored pencils I'm using now are too thick and don't blend with the paper very well either.

Derwent Studio Color pencils (my beloved ones. ^^). Like ordinary coloring pencils, but a bit softer. Yet the red-brown color is an aquarell pencil from my mixed collection, when Derwent's closest option, Terracotta looked too pinkish on brown paper. Sketching with H, lineart with HB and some shadows with B2. Need more information?

The pose and anatomy are right on, as usual. What is the piece of fabric over his left arm, since it doesn't appear to be part of his clothing?

(For the record, when I first saw the Goddess symbol I thought "SACRED CANDY!!!!" :eats chocolate

Thank you. ^^

Umh, it's just a sleeve. I almost ruined the whole arm by drawing, sketching, erasing and re-drawing when i couldn't get it work, so I just hid the whole thing behind that cloth. Good imagination for excuses is very handy thing in drawing. ^^"

This is such a lovely and powerful piece, I really love native styled art. The fire is really cool, and Red's fur, anatomy and pose are teh awesomeness

As for the symbols... The one on the left is of the Lunar Triple Goddess, representing the three aspects of the moon (waxing, full, and waning) also womankind (mother, maiden and crone) It is also attributed to the feminine polarity of the universe.

The one on the right is of the Horned God, who represents the masculine polarity of the universe. The horned god is the archetypal horned Shaman, related to the ancient Gods of vegetation and the hunt: Greek Pan, the Celtic Cernunnos, and the Egyptian Ammon.

How's that?

Hyvä idea käyttää tämmöstä rusehtavaa paperia, tulee hyvin "hiekkamainen" tunnelma. ^^ Anthrojen anatomian sinä taidat aina, etenkin nyt ihastuin tuohon käteen, joka lepää polven päällä. En tiedä, mutta käden kulmikkuus on jotenkin hienon näköinen. Ja tuo tulen astia on myös upea. En oikeastaan mitään kritiikkiä löydä. o,o
