I don't often say this about my work so I feel no shame in saying it now - I am so proud of this. Maybe my favorite piece yet. Painted while listening to "I See Fire" from the second Hobbit soundtrack, hence the title. You did a gorgeous job with this piece. The horse truly seems to be fleeing a blaze, a haze of smoke covering everything behind him. I do see that you used a reference, but you still did a beautiful job with your rendering of the animal.
My only question about this is why there's so much empty space. My first thought is that you left it that way so you could use it as a personal wallpaper on your computer, but it also serves to keep the focus on the horse. I can't help but wish there was something in the distance so that we could see what the horse is running from.
Even so, this is a wonderful work, and I do thank you for sharing it.

Thank you for the kind words and the critique! I wish I had a better answer to your question but the truth is, I get lazy with backgrounds XD You're right, though, a treeline or something similar would probably look cool behind this guy. Maybe the blurry silhouette of flames.

I like both ideas... perhaps a blend of the two? A fire behind the horse moving through a treeline that's not quite destroyed to the other side of the frame?
But, then, sometimes more is just more. Hm....
