when the male penguin is hatching the eggs, the female penguin will be looking for food. during this time, no matter how hungry he is, or how bad the snow is, he will always protect the eggs and wait for the female penguin to come back.

There's something entirely awesome about this. Well actually a number of entirely awesome things, not the least of which is that it's a penguin in the first place.
But his pose, and the sort of simplified design... all of it makes me feel rather happy somehow.
