Description This is my new idea for the Czechoslovakian light self-propelled multiple mortar ShSM-1 Déšť (Samohybný salvový minomet-1 Déšť, "The Rain")

This vehicle was developed in the middle of 1950s after World War II. His task was to mass destroy enemy positions at short to medium distances. The vehicle was produced in large quantities (Up to 2000 vehicles mounted with mortar and other 3000 without it) and was also exported to Poland, GDR, USSR and in smaller quantities to Yugoslavia. In Czechoslovakia, its production ended in the mid-1960s and it was used until 1980. After the fall of communism, many vehicles were sold to military-poor countries and Africa, but some of them remained in storages as backup. Today, the mortar can still be used in modern conflicts mounted on modern vehicles or trucks, and the old vehicles can be used in agriculture as a light tractor for harder terrain or forest.

The vehicle is small and fast, so it can attack and run away quickly and also camouflage itself very well. The mortar has sixteen barrels of 122 mm caliber, from which are fired high-explosive shells, or shells with with a delayed explosion (these shells open small wings when fired, with which the shell flies slower and hits the ground with less impact. When the shell is stuck in the ground, the grenade activates and explodes after 4-5 seconds). Although its range is not far (up to 2,5 km), its destructiveness is strong. Shells can be fired individually or fired at once at a rate of 16 shots per 4 seconds. One driver controls the vehicle, two other soldiers operate the mortar.

The engine in the vehicle is very simple, so the vehicle does not have much power. Also, the vehicle is armored only for hard terrain crossing or as protection against small arms, so it would not be able to survive a blow from a stronger grenade or rocket. Also, the vehicle is open, so the crew has not any protection, and one blast inside the vehicle would mean the end.

It's not real, it's my imagination.
