What a great photo and an awesome story (I clicked the other deviation), I'm such a sappy person for animals that I'm hoping that he simply had good experiences around humans which let him trust them to rub his head and everything. I probably would have been in total awe to see this.

It was pretty amazing. And the fact that he had done this the day before, and then come back was incredible! I guess he liked the people there.

We had a buck show up in our back yard back in November and while I was of course snapping away photos, I was still just awed by it and was even moving really slow in the house so it wouldn't see any fast motion in our windows (even from something like 200 ft away) and get startled. We haven't seen him back, I hope he's having fun in a local nearby park.

Very cool. I had a similar experience last summer at the lodge I work at. I had just taken my little point and shoot out of my pocket because I was going to move some wood, and when I walked out the door not ten meters away was a doe. She seemed rather unconcerned and after edging around me and a young boy she frolicked off into the bushes. I spent the rest of the day kicking myself for leaving my camera.
