Description This shot bothered me after I took it the first time (as shots often do). I felt like something was off and it could have been better. I had to wait for the right conditions (high clouds, clear) and when they presented themselves, it was bitterly cold with a high wind. I was actually expecting the shot to show camera movement due to the wind. But when I developed the roll, I liked what came out.

This often happens- I will come across a scene with lovely composition and I feel I have to shoot it several times in several conditions before I get it right. It will bother me until I get what I consider to be "right", which I did here. It's subjective, of course, and one might think this is a lousy shot. But hey- screw them!

Fuji Acros 100, f-5.6, IR and polarizer, 64 sec.

Damn, this is great stuff. I wish it was a bit sharper, but I know how hard it is to shoot in the wind and the cold.

Definitely a fave.

thanks, man. i find that with the long exposures, sharpness can be hard to achieve. but still, the pictures turn out well, sometimes.

it has a very creepy, thriller-like feel to it. Looks like the dead are up and filing in to take over the city of the living. ... I like it!

Great shot, I really like the contrast of the rigid ground to the motion of the clouds in the sky

Great shot.

That's the thing I like about shooting outdoors. You can shoot the same scene over and over but depending on the weather, the results can change dramatically.

I really like how everything in this shot emphasizes the horizontal and the vertical. All of the posts and buildings give a strong repeating verticle element and the skyline and area they are spread throughout gives a strong horizontal element. I also like the building on the right, it looks out of the place and arbitrary but actually works very well to prevent the picture from being homogenious.

thanks, riley. i never thought about the verticle and horizontal components of the picture, but you've hit the nail on the head. my major problem with it is that the right side needs to be cropped, but i don't want to lose those smaller pylons. thanks for the comment, i appreciate the input.

This is a great shot. You can tell just by looking at it that you put a lot of time in it. I don't take many photos but when I do I always get two shots in. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that! This is nice a fav for sure.
