This man is profoundly beautiful. I love his face. What a story in those eyes.
Why do you call this hyper realism? What is the difference between that and photorealism?

Kinda looks like Peter Capladi.
Incredible work, you really added character to this piece, a picture can truly tell a thousand words.

What kind of resolution are we talking about for the face file? I am wondering approximately how big the eye area is in pixels, is all (because I tend to have to zoom in to do mine, my files are probably much smaller for the size needed for detail like this).

Packwood In reply to KakashiMorph [2014-10-18 18:36:06 +0000 UTC]

Hi, the file size is 16048x8584 @ 300ppi. The Eye with is about 1260 pixels wide. I paint this large because it's always easier to reduce a file size later that increase it. Especially if there's a possibility of eventually printing the final painting on a large canvas, or in this case, zooming up to a portion of the image for a tutorial. The larger the file size, the more stress on your computer and possible lag, so you need to experiment with what your system can handle, my PS files average around 500MB+ in size.

KakashiMorph In reply to Packwood [2014-10-18 22:18:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes, no way my poor old computer could handle a file like that. I think highest I can go without too much lag is about 4K, maybe 5 tops(width). I'll see if I can experiment with larger files in the future though, if I get a better machine and more RAM. Thank you very much for the insight!
