I see Obi-Wan as the most important character of the saga. He goes trough much and his character develops in a realistic way.

I really don't like qui-gon at all, you're right. Qui-Gon is an arrogant man who shoves his apprentice out of the way when something interesting comes up. I read Jedi Apprentice and I simply couldn't bring myself to like the man.

If Qui would, for once, listen to him, Anakin wouldnt have been a sith, they would have arrested Palpatine sooner, the whole war would have ended far quicker!

Sometimes i believe Obi-Wan is the TRUE Chosen One! XD

I like to believe that too. Anakin was too old to become a jedi and Jinn seemed all to happy to ignore Obi-Wan's protests. He always did as he pleased.

WHy, Qui-gon? Why must you be so f*cking arrogant, ungrateful and so idiodic? Obi-Wan's been with you all your life and suddenly you decided "Meh, screw my old padawan, Anakin's my new son now!" and go claiming he's the Jesus kid of your universe!

Obi-Wan is quiet and humble, whilst Anakin is arrogant and loud. I believe Qui-Gon regonised himself more in Anakin than in Obi-Wan. Besides he was really obsessed with the idea of "the chosenone". 
He probably thought that Obi-Wan would had accept it all, since qui-gon knows very well that Obi-Wan is loyal to him.
And "capable" is not really a compliment when saying your apprentice is ready for knighthood
