Seems like a sick torture method. The ancient Persians did something called scaphism, where a person was forcefully undressed, forcefed excessive amounts of milk and honey (and also covered in that stuff), and left inside of two boats/hollowed-out tree trunks until dead. Typically, flies and other lovelies are attracted to the milk and honey and feces. Usually, death occurs in a couple of days, but one guy survived for around 17 days.
Another fun way to torture a guy is through rabbit starvation, a severe and deadly form of malnutrition, and all you have to do is feed your victim only extremely lean meat. Symptoms of rabbit starvation include diarrhea, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, and insatiable hunger (only satisfied by fat).
I need to stop looking at medical and historical stuff so often.

Rabbit starvation is extremely rare, though. It would take a week or so of JUST lean meat and nothing else (minimal to no carbs or fat). This only happens in extremely desperate situations.

Agreed, especially in the fly-infested, scorching-hot desert where you could go insane even if there wasn't a war on. A Higher Call goes into that as well. Dang, now I'm going to have to go read it again since I won't shut up about it.
