Description TheObliviousOwl and I decided to challenge ourselves and redraw an older piece each to see how much we've improved. c: It was definitely interesting to work on this and see how much I've learned in terms of colour/light/shadow, but I do wish I spent more time on it haha~ I've been slacking off on details. Hopefully the next one comes out much better!

Before/After comparison:

Check out what TheObliviousOwl did with his piece!

Great improvement! I was wondering if I could make a request... I need a drawing for a music video and I think your obsolete style would suit the tone of the song.

Hi thanks for your comment! I'm not open for requests or commissions right now though. c: Good luck finding the art you need.

Definitely more fleshed out! The stylization of the original is pretty cool, but I'm digging the colors and details of your re-draw. The light on the face especially.

Both versions look very nice, but yes your new knowledge of color/light/shadow seriously shows in this new piece! Your style has also developed a lot more. This one just feels like it has more depth to it (of course because of improved shading, but I feel also on another level such as emotion and/or personality).

I'm also someone who tends to like unpolished pieces (especially with paintings) a bit more. Not that polished is bad by any means to me, but sometimes I feel like a piece can lose some fluidity and expression of the artist through polishing. It's why I love seeing people's early sketching or messy lines sometimes because you can just feel the pure energy the artist was working with before they polished it up! Can just give an entirely different feel.

Whoops kinda rambled there, but regardless, amazing job! You and TheObliviousOwl have been wowing me quite a bit! Very inspiring, the two of you.

Hey thanks so much for the nice comment! Sorry for the late reply though ; w; I'm really happy you like this piece; I actually do feel I've improved a lot and I know what you mean about polished/unpolished pieces. I tend to like messier pieces too, but when I did this I was aiming for a really clean look and it's upsetting to me when I have that goal in mind and I don't accomplish it. c: But I really admire artists who can retain the energy of their sketches in the finished work. But ehhh

Thanks again for the nice comment ; w; We're both doing our best.
