Awesome picture! I wish I knew how you could do this. The 'fur' on insects is not true hair in the mammalian sense (not sure why, they never bother to explain it in the scientific literature) but is instead called 'setae'. It functions like body hair, though, by insulating the insect and acting as a 'touch receptor' for wind currents, much like whiskers, or 'vibrissae', do in mammals. Yeah, so it's pretty much the same damn thing as mammalian hair; I don't care what the experts say!

For such detailed pictures you need a macro lens and tons of patience, so you can take a shot of the butterfly when you are close enough.
And yeah, insects can be so fuzzy. :>

Ja nawet lustrzanki nie mam wiec musze sie troche nameczyc, zeby takie zdjecia zrobic... Na szczescie mam sporo cierpliwosci. ;>
W ogole dosyc ciekawie wyglada z bliska... moze dlatego lubie makro, ze moge zobaczyc na zdjeciach rzeczy ktorych nie widze normalnie. :>
