Cocoa Butter is the name she took when she married into the Chocolate Family. Her maiden name is Buttercream Cookie.
She never truly cut ties with the Butter family, but often feels she has been away too long to come back. Her closer relatives visit her, and even some servants who missed her kind presence. As a consequence, Liquor and his sons are technically still part of the nobility.
Loves her son, Chocolate Liquor, with all of her heart, and wishes she could’ve been a more active force in his upbringing, her illness having made it difficult for years.
Cocoa Butter suffers from a pseudo-magical crop illness known as the Bitterblight. It very nearly destroyed her farmstead, and it definitely was the catalyst for her failed marriage. She’s much better now, though.
Cocoa Butter is happily retired, living in a lavishly cozy cottage and baking with her two pet cats; George and Charles. The cookies she bakes are legendary, and are known all across the town of Parfaedia. Most of the ponies who live there associate the smell of freshly baked buttercream with good luck and success.
Cocoa Butter is a wonderful host and takes every opportunity to make sure her visitors are well-fed, with almost witch-like intent. Nightmare Night goers know her house is worth the long trek, as the hoof-made candies and sweets she makes are both out of this world and bountiful.
When ownership of Cocoa Meadows farm fell to him after his mother became too old to work, a tragedy for earth pony standards, the Bitterblight had already come and gone, and left his inheritance a salted waste. Undeterred, Chocolate Liquor worked like the devil to make the farm better than it had ever been. Some ponies even say that the stallion traveled deep into the Graham Woods to ensure he could defend against the Bitterblight should it ever return.
Chocolate Liquor is a devoted family man, in his eyes, his sons come before anything else. The world he’s built, the business he runs, it is all driven by the desire for a family to take care of and nourish, to spoil rotten with sweetness instead of only the bitterness he was given when growing up.
Due to his mother’s failing health, and the continuing deterioration of the farm, Chocolate Liquor did not finish regular school. Instead, he dropped out to work full-time on his farm. One would be a fool to think that this stallion is uneducated, however, as Chocolate Liquor is one savvy businesspony.
In his youth, he was the culinary apprentice of a renowned, griffon chef from Prance, Gateau le Gryphon, whom he considers close enough to be his surrogate father. If it weren’t for Gateau giving him so many chances, working for him, becoming his apprentice, and even buying his first batch of wine, Chocolate Liquor definitely wouldn’t be the stallion he is today.
Chocolate Liquor’s cutie mark is quite decorated; a large aged wine bottle with little finery and cacao pods. Against all odds, this country stallion’s cutie mark represents his talent for fine dining and winemaking.
Chocolate Liquor is fully fluent in Prench, in part due to his apprenticeship under a Prench griffon. His sons haven’t quite picked up on it yet, but he’s very patient with them.
Before Chocolate Liquor came around, wine was not very popular in Parfaedia. In fact, the only one really interested in the stuff was Liquor’s mentor, Gateau. After the roaring success of Chocolate Liquor’s chocolate liquor with the Canterlot elite, all sorts of rival winemakers began sprouting out of the woodwork.
Chocolate Liquor is a staunch Graham Woods preservationist, actively pushing for laws that would keep Parfaedia’s natural land safe. He only ever allows expansion if he knows the forest itself would permit it, and is always sure that replanting efforts are made.
