This was my final project for 3D design.I was inspired by a rainy day on campus - everyone pulled their umbrellas down low and walked about in their own little umbrella worlds, never talking to or interacting with anyone. And then I realized that even if it weren't raining, things would be the same - people walking in circles, day after day, in their own little umbrella worlds. So I made walking umbrellas...cause that's what we all really are. Umbrellas with legs. Stop laughing. -_-;
The legs are made of sculpey, the unbrellas are good ol construction paper, and the base is lazy susan with foam board on it. You can't see it in the pic, but there's some detailing that looks like a circle of leaves around the base.
Btw, I got some ODD looks carrying this around campus. I actually ran into my boss when I was carrying the three pairs of legs before I put on the umbrella parts. She gave me this 'I don't want to know' look...yeah. Fun times.

I honestly think its a very interesting concept : ) inspiration can bring great results. I really do love the oddness of it. but at the same time its got a really really nice feel in my opinion.

awesome. very well done and completely true. haha. I love rain but I will admit, walking across campus when it's raining can be a really bad experience. you're right though. everyone hunches down and doesn't really talk. The only time people talk is if they're sharing an umbrella. but that doesn't happen too much. it's sad they walking across campus can't be more social. I guess it is occasionally. but not enough. we should all break out of our shells more often. great concept and great design. Very thought provoking. I hope you got a good grade on it!

That's so awesome. I just had an awkward/hilarious thought when I saw it. I'm sitting here on my laptop and on the corner of my eye, I see a little umbrella with legs walking by my window and I have a O.o look on my face then a ^_^.
Still, loved the concept and idea. You rule.

Haha! I always loved carrying my projects around campus. Once I had to put the dark wooden swirls ((where Axel now sits...)) in my front seat and buckle it up just to keep it from breaking while I took it to and from school. And boy was that thing hard to carry around campus.
This thing is awesome, and it really makes a statement. I understood it before I even read the descrip! Great job!

Very interesting. I never looked at umbrellas that way. Very creative thinking that is.
