I actually really like these despite not using any refs
I should color more traditional sketches, I really like how my sketches look.. then again, most artists do.

When you do color this, maybe use some dark hues to give a "frightening" look.

I agree. When it comes to drawing things scary, it's the obvious choice to use darker hues, shades, and colors. If you used bright colors, people would think it suppose to be bright and cheery.
