Oooh, this is amazing! It's really cool that these are made out of actual kimono! I'm doing more B/W art lately, but if I ever use this in my painting/drawing I will definitely show you the result.
By the way, do you have any tips on making tiling patterns like this? I have some Japanese-pattern origami papers that I scanned in, but the scanned patterns won't work too well on large surfaces if used as-is.

If you have Photoshop, you'll need to Cut the image exactly where the pattern repeats so that it matches up. This can be really headache inducing, so use the Guides to decide where you want to cut your pattern before you do so.
Here's a couple Tutorials that may help:
Β
Tutorial: Seamless texturesI will be providing you with a very effective method for creating high quality seamless textures - namely photo realistic patterns. But first, a few notes:
Unlike similar methods, this one doesn't use the offset tool. This method aims for quality and requires both full control of the image and a dynamic view of the repeating pattern. This tutorial is created for Adobe Photoshop, but can be used with any image editor that has a similar functionality. You can click any of the images to see them in higher resolution.Β Prior to tormenting yourself with work, check if the work isn't already done.Β ThisΒ is an excellent source of seamless textures.Β A single large-scale image will provide a better result than a repeating pattern in most cases (notable exceptions are vector patterns and computer animations).
Now, let the tutorial begin!
Part 1: Choosing a source image
This part basically defines how much time yoΒ

Very old, I know but it's still a problem and others might find it helpful:
The download has the file a .psd, which it is not.
Change the file from .psd to .pat and it will work.
It might be helpful if the download file would be updated with the actual format. ;D
