I prefer to illustrate the stories about the Orishas when I can, focusing on one aspect of Their magnificence, because They are all so complex. This is when Obatala raised the earth from the primal waters. Yemaya in Her own way was born then. They have many different relationships between them. Both are often portrayed as elders of the Orishas. Sometimes They are married. The story of how the Earth was made has variations and I wanted to depict this beginning, with Them already old.
