It had been more that twelve hours that I had seen her. And I was worried. She was leaving into an unknown world that even I had never seen. She looked scared, terrified and yet, the only thing I could do was give her a hug. I wanted to do more, and yet there was nothing I could do. She was probably on the plane already headed for the United States. And here I was, on the other side of the world, sitting on a subway under London. My heart sank as I remembered her last good-bye. Her eyes had portrayed the same fear as when she had been controlled by Voldemort. I worried for her, hoping that she would be okay on the other side of the world. I looked at the piece of paper that held her new address and phone number. I called, but nobody answered. I left a message and stared sadly out the window. I knew I shouldn’t have left that message. The only reason why her parents took her to the U.S. was because of me. Her father didn’t want his daughter to be hanging around with his worst enemy’s son. We had kept our relationship a secret for a year, but eventually our fathers found out. I wound up in the hospital after my father shattered the left side of my body. Four months later, after I had healed, she was told that her family was moving. She was seventeen and had just finished school, and yet she wasn’t allowed to say no. She was not yet an adult. She had to wait a few more months. And all I could do was watch her leave. I arrived at the doorsteps of my apartment and stepped in. And there she was, sitting on her favoritechair, beaming at me. She wrapped her small arms around my neck and said,
“This is where I belong.”
I smiled and gave her the biggest hug I could.
“Welcome home.”
