Cool design and great idea for a star craft unit.

Giant baneling!! Wait... What if you could research an upgrade for ALL zerg units of any kind to cause splash damage on death by exploding?

Haha armies do get killed off for many reasons. Doing a little damage at death is def'ly a plus

Awesome use of colour and light. The way the seemingly innocent and bright background contrasts with the dark creature conveys a rather dark, destructive atmosphere; paired with the sinister glows that emanate from the baubles of slime (?), a rather alien sense is put forth as well whilst creating an immediate impact.
I also love the use of shadow, and having the foreground relatively dark implies the onslaught of the shadowy creature is spreading desolation everywhere.
The vibrancy and rich textures of the monster compared to the relatively simple technique used in the background is also quite effective, further constructing on the mood of alien horror.
Awesome work!

I have to agree with Corrade, the contrast of detail and color between the "Desolator's" eyes and the background create an almost sickly feel. It's as if the creature is a virus in the land it walks through.
