moscow, russia, may 2005this specific photograph was taken while walking the neighborhood of moscow that features several places that are mentioned in a very well written, well known, and well aged russian book, master and margarita. from wikipedia : Many people consider the book as one of the greatest Russian novels of the 20th century - and also the most humorous.
the specific place is the writer's club, which in this photograph is behind my back. this photograph is thus specifically set in the context of the year, of the place, and of the city.

i love the feel of this shot....very retro...it almost feels like i'm looking at a picture out of a history book or something. i also love the warm colors and the details - both on the building and the car. but what i love most about this shot is the people in it - esp. the two policemen(?) in the background, just standing there, as if they were meant to be there, to be within this frame. and if i stare long enough, a story can form in my head

This truly feels like an abroad trip in time travel. It's quite fascinating actually. It's one thing to have an image compell you and it's quite another for it to draw you in and feel like part of another time or place or even a plot in a novel. Excellent lighting and detail of the background building.

I love the way the colors are soft and they match the jacket of the owner. The little red flags are pretty cool too.
The policemen in the background look so interesting just loitering htere. Nothing to do.

The pretty pretty warm tones, the beautiful soft light on the car, the amazingly fitting outfit of the guy that happens to be a similar color.
And the sunny sunny background with.. policeman bringing me back to reality

I like the picture. I think i'd know more about it if i read the novel, but i don't see that happening anytime soon. I'll be damned if i find time to paint a present for family, let alone read a novel!
I notice that the street is at an angle, going down towards the right. That's one thing that immediately caught my eye. I realize that trying to crop it so that it's leveled may screw up with the car and make it like the nose is aiming for the sky. Regardless of that, i like the mood of the image. Hell, you couldve said that it was taken in 1960 and i wouldve believed it (well not really, basically because of image-quality, but you know what i'm saying 
Right now i got within 2 inches of the monitor to see if i could see you in the reflection of the wheel cap.
