For Round 2 (rainy spring)!Incidentally this is very close to my favourite kind of weather.
An Easter egg hunt in a huge garden seems like a perfect activity you take a busful (busload?) of kids to so here is Michelle and the social group where she's accepted whether she wants it or not - her older brother Mikey's class (and families and friends). Let's just say this is not on Michelle's list of ten ways to spend a way. Not cool.
I realise that this round would be perfect for featuring other people's characters but between the comic (where I'm working on multiple pages at once even though I told myself I wouldn't do it again) and freelance work (which is nice but it does keep me busy) I've just been actually really missing drawing my OCs doing random mundane things. Almost like missing catching up with someone real. So I miiight be using the OC Pageant as an opportunity for that for now... After all, it's supposed to be fun!

Donny's brother! Donny is the guy in the the maroon chair, Bean is the kid who lives at the school most of the year because his family is a mess. It's okaaaay, I don't expect you to remember my army of characters.
And yeah, Mikey is generally okay with sharing when he's in the good mood.

Super impressed by the background. I love how wild and overgrown the garden looks and how well it camouflages all the eggs. You have this amazing talent for incorporating so much color and life into your pieces. It is a real treat for the eyes.

Oh wow there's so much to look at! I love those trees and the bark, and indeed Michelle looks irate to be doing this but who doesn't like looking for fancy eggs in a big old garden! I want to do that

I love how Michael is holding the eggs. Is Michelle collecting them and giving them to him? She also looks like she's chatting to him as well (or complaining that she has to do all the work? XD). Mickey's polka dot chair is extra awesome on top of an awesome cake!!
The overground garden is epic. The bird tables, ivy and sun dial(maybe?) just add so much character. I just ignored the 'neglected' thing and made it a maintained garden which is probably kinda cheating.
Olivier can cameo in the background via sound effects. He'll be squawking about the rain - and Rosa is laughing at him XD Michelle will later see him pass looking drenched, roll her eyes, and call him a doofus. Rosa will agree... emphatically.
I wonder if all the trees should be bare like that? There are occasional leaves growing on a lot of them here

Michelle would say that she's his robotic hand (and eyeroll) - she does collect them for him. Most of the time she lets Mikey find them but when he's slow she gets frustrated and just picks up and eggs she sees. She sometimes gets in the spirit of these things and actually has fun but usually tries to hide it. Just that age when it's really uncool to do ANYTHING with your family...
Now that I think of it Mikey is the ONLY character in Cop Story with a polka dot chair. 
Aw man, I should have thought of sun dials! It's two bird baths (one overturned) and a random sculpture. And I think I just like drawing dilapidated areas - I'll have more trouble when I'll be figuring out a consistent sensory garden for Cockburn. 
And yeeees, Michelle would do that.

Michelle's 14! (I always have to check because my teen development didn't add up to "normal" teen development apparently, at least according to my Mum, so it's hard to cross-reference it to my OCs). And well, Michelle is a sibling of a disabled kid, and she's younger so she was born into it and it's the only life she knows. It's different for everyone of course but I think most siblings of disabled children learn to be protective quickly. I don't think they'll drift apart - Michelle IS really fond of Mikey and really a lot of her current sulking is one big "it's not fair!" at the realisation that someone will have to take care of Mikey for the rest of his life, and that someone might be her - it's not that she thinks of it ALL the time but it's a lot of food for thought, especially for a kid. They have an older brother but since he moved out Michelle sees it as a low-key betrayal (even though he keeps in touch and helps out).
That's Danny, Donny's brother ! Now those kids definitely DON'T have a good sibling relationship (but then Danny is 10 and Donny is more of a handful).

I knooow! Really I should be putting more time into the comic (both pages and development doodles) but... I think doing some standalone original illustrations on a regular basis is worth the time, I probably wouldn't do it much otherwise.
