cool, i wonder what life in poverty is like, i've lived in america too long, and everything seems to be easy for me, i wonder how it would be like to live like that.

not saying that they are terribly poor but comparing my lifestyle, a hmong in the USA with a car and a motorcycle and hell, a whole lot of other things, and to this below suburb living lifestyle. I wonder if I could handle it.

Why are you calling this girl "white Hmong"? I was visiting Sapa last December. Unfortunately, it was raining off and on during the three days we were there. The trip to the Love market was cancelled and no chance of taking colorful pictures of the different ethnic groups I now remember vaguely the Red Dzao, Black Hmong and cannot recall White Hmong.

White Hmong people use to come in Sapa a few days a year (especially during week-ends) to sell mainly worn-out skirts to vietnamese and black hmong. These people wear different clothes and the skirt is typical of these people.

You went to Sapa ? That's great ! About the "love market" it's nothing more than a tourist trick as there isn't any love market anymore since many years. Only youngs people playing music and balls games.
Looks like you were using a guide or a tour.... right ?

You mean the White Hmong only come to Sapa to sell used clothings instead of new ones? Yes, I was on a tour, visiting Hanoi with a side trip to Sapa. Like I had told you, the weather was lousy and we could not see much. Did you see my painting [link] From your gallery, now I know they are Flower Hmong Please refresh my memory, is this [link] a Red Dzao?

Yes they keep the new clothes for themselves as one can take up to 1 year to complete.
About your painting it's really great. I just faved it as I enjoy it a lot.
You are welcome but try the next time to comes by yourself rather than with a tour, you'll see more
Yes it's a red zao but I'm not sure it's real gold as here, in VN, a lot of people have fake gold teeth.

To discover something by oneself, that requires time. That's why I often join tours. But it's true tours would bring you to nicer sides of life I doubt I would return to Sapa any time soon, but looking at images in your gallery and various others on DA, I have learned more about this place now. Regarding fake gold teeth, it could be true in many cases. But I have known people there with gold teeth for status and practical reason.

We were shown one typical home and I did wonder how they could live in that situation. So I'm not surprised if you found it difficult to live in the Hmong village
