O__o ......... this is by far the most appealing of your works that i have seen. This to me forces a state of mind, the colors are like the subconscious buttons to relax. I could stare at this for hours.

I like it. You should do more of these.

Hah, maybe. They were pretty fun/easy. I just get sick of painting when I'm in school, though...

Heh, you could do your whole thesis of these (slightly serious, actually...it would look pretty awesome).

It might, but I don't know if I could write a two page concept proposal for it. And besides...Ashley is really into painting bacteria and microscopic fungi I don't want it to look like I'm copying her.

Oh I see, best not to seem like a copier I guess.

Looks really nice! You definitely captured the tendrils of bacteria well, and they give the piece a cool sense of movement. The colours and textures you used really give it a serene, water-like quality, which makes me think of bacteria like nothing else (every major body of water in Ottawa is full of 'em!)

Who says bacteria aren't beautiful... at least when you paint them. You really captured the lovely curves of this creature. The colours, value and paint application make this seem so serene.

I thought that picture was so elegant, I just had to use it! I think my brother was kidding when he told me to make him paintings for his birthday It sucks to give my best work to someone who can't appreciate it.

Behind all the teasing or apparently serious derision... I bet he's your biggest fan, just like my brothers.

Oleem In reply to msklystron [2010-07-27 00:58:59 +0000 UTC]

Do your brothers appreciate art? Mine doesn't. He's always hated it. He hasn't even hung the paintings up and I gave them to him three months ago. It's such a shame, especially 'cause they looked so nice on my walls

msklystron In reply to Oleem [2010-07-27 01:02:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes. My oldest just loves everything I do unconditionally. My other brother would give me pointers and good crit to help me grow as an artist. My sister is also a fan.

Your brother is a phillistine!

You must have been gone too long! I did abstract for years...though most of it wasn't that good and I hid it now But I'm so glad you like this one!

I'm glad you think so I wanted it to be relaxing! Yay, it worked~ Actually, I think these are the only paintings that turned out exactly how I wanted them...and my brother doesn't even appreciate art, especially not abstract art *sigh*

Aww...did he not like it? I kinda know how you feel. My bro doesn't want anything I draw unless it's a pic of his kids or his WoW characters..even then he always loses them :C

I will buy the print!

But I want you to have it. Really. It's cool that you appreciate my work. That means more to me than any amount of money

Besides, I don't like the way dA does business So anyways, here are the files. You can make them whatever size you want because they're kinda huge right now

QyJx [2010-06-02 04:57:21 +0000 UTC]

I love the curves and the texture.

For some reason, I was seeing a woman lying on her side in this. It also makes me think of moss, or large water-weathered stones covered in the fossil of some ancient life-form. o:

I could stare at this for a while and keep seeing new things. Single celled organisms are the "origin" of life, but have evolved into so many complex organisms. In a sense, in the same way I can see many things in this painting of a single celled organism. It's "becoming" all those complex ones in my head.

That's just what I'm thinking of, anyways.
