Grand shot and capture...

Thank you, Steven - these guys get just about everywhere in parts of Australia, but, paradoxically, have become endangered in some areas as they have eaten all the food! So, denuded trees and vegetation, over-breeding, and illness has left some populations in a dire strait. So much so that culling has had to be introduced in such areas.

Very welcome David...didn't china have a problem with their panda's and bamboo awhile back...?

Pandas, bamboo, and China - difficult to know what is going on. I think pandas are doing OK in China, but there is certainly no over-population.

Good Onya, Sheila!! Sorry, Pamela, Digger sometimes gets over enthusiastic with the vernacular. Glad to see you back.
Cheers

It's not surprising that the koala is used as a teddy bear - my sister-in-law had one, still has it, as a wee girl, and it is called Digger - that's where I got this name.

Great shot David! They remind me of the Brazilian sloth.

Robson - Their day to day life style is like that of the sloth, but a bit quicker. I saw some sloths when I was in Bahia; movement is incredibly slow.

It is. But they swim pretty fast!

Is that right - never considered a sloth as a swimmer.

It's a strange scene, you don't expect it to move that fast!

You have to be careful with these guys, Linda. They look cute, are not very active or fast, and are not aggressive in the normal run of things, but they are not to be approached as they have very sharp claws, will defend their territory, and carry some nasty diseases. They also smell awful from the gum leaves that they eat.

In the koala world, Linda, I doubt they care about looks - they are so spaced out on the hypnotic components of gum leaves.

You don't want to get that close, Cecily - these guys have sharp claws and harbour some unpleasant diseases. Fortunately, the 70-200 mm lens helped out!
Many Thanks
David
