Wow, so this is your idea of how he looks? Everyone portrays him in a way that screams "nineteenth century tiem!", it's nice to see something a bit different.

thank you! i really love that book and i think niel gaiman was going for a victorian feel for his charcters, which makes alot of sense, but i couldnt see sila as that old, suit wearing, top hat dawning character; perhaps sometimes but certainly not the whole book. i see him as younger looking but really mentor...y and mixing his style of dress with the classic stuff and some newer aditions. thanks again i really appriciate it^^

Great linework; from the waist up, this is definitely the best portrayal of Silas that I've seen thus far. As for the rest, I can see what you were going for; did you ever colour it? Because that would be totally helpful.

wow thank you! i appriciate it^^

never did color it. i saw him in a cloak, but wanted to add a touch of the current times he was living in aka jacket. and he turned out looking like a stump hehe. i may go back at fix it at some point though

wow man its really pretty! so only one question: is he coming out of a tree? what exactly is he doin? other than that, its really really really nice and I'm practically drooling all over it.

^^ thanks so much! well i wanted to make it so he looked like he was blending into the shadows when i drew it because a few times in the book it talked about how he'd appear from darkness...heh thought it was cool. so, hes got some long coat or something underneath his jacket, i geuss it would be clearer if i colored it, yeah?

It is indeed never mentioned in the book, but Silas is a vampire. The clues?

-Standing next to the Man Jack, who is already very dark and scary, Silas is darker and scarier

-Silas only eats one food, and it is NOT bananas (LOL) or salad

-He's neither dead nor alive

-He can leave the graveyard at will

-When Bod wants to be like him, Silas firmly states that he does not.

-Silas states that he has done horrible things in the past, things far worse than even the Jacks have done.

I have never been one of those teeny-bopper mall goths that think vampires are hot, but after seeing this masterpiece of yours, I may reconsider! Excellent design! Do you plan on coloring it?

Thank you so much! I wanted to color it but desided that the colors would end up too dark...but maybe it would work out? At the moment Im not planning on coloring though. Thanks for the comment, i appriciate it^^

Nice work, but Silas seems a bit young to me.

I really like how the story took classic monsters (vampires, werewolves, mummys, etc.) and made them the guardians and the good )or at least not always evil) guys. It was also a nice touch to incorporate some of the cthulhu mythos as well.

Thanks for sharing

thanks^^ yeah he was portraied as older in the book but i saw him as in his early thirties(in physical appearence)(i know he even looks even a little to old for that, but o well heh)for some reason. i saw him as seeming older because he'd lived so long and through so much.

the book was great because of that. once again, score for neil gaiman for creating a story that is so original out of ideas that have been around for a while.

thank you for the comment^^ i appriciate it

That sounds good and I'd love to take you up on it, but I have waaaaay too many things to read right now that I may get maimed for if I don't, so I'll have to take a rain check on it. But I would still like to read it!
