Description Pattern by Megan Lapp of Crafty Intentions. Created by me! Many of my works are from Crafty Intentions patterns, her work is AMAZING.

This is one of my first large projects I made. I wasn't (and still not overly) very fast so it took me quite a while to make it, I would say easily 30+ hours over the course of a month and a bit. Used a 4mm hook. The body, wings, and even the feathers on the tail are supported by wires, which I learned quickly as to why heavier wire is recommended for the wings as I should have doubled the wire. Glass oval gems are used in the bottom of the feet for additional support. The inside is stuffed with polyfil as well. This thing is hefty!! I didn't have the proper sized eyes to use when making this thing and I was too impatient to wait to order some so I made my own crocheted eyes, they're not perfect by any means but it works!
I have learned over time the differences in yarn types and how they work up in a creation. In the case with this one I used Craftsmart yarn, which is an acrylic yarn but considered more of a "value brand" type yarn. Works up easily but it's stiffer and not quite as soft as some of the others out there. However it's great for a learning yarn! Also used a bit of Bernat premium for the blue.

Measurements of this beast:

Wingspan: The wings are in total 32" together, individually 16".

Body: From the tip of the horns down to its feet it stand about 12" tall and about 5 1/2" wide.
