I don't think so. According to the system requirements on the official HL2- episode one webpage it only works with windows 98/2000/ME/ or XP.

ok, well thats good because my dad is somehow instaling 2000 on our mac which has a really good graphics card and all that good stuff

Oh hey, have you seen the commercial for the game "Eight Days" (I think it's eight days, or at least my overly tired mind is saying it is) for the PS3? That's some insane graphics and it looks like something you might be interested in, it even caught some of my interest, which is hard to do.
