Description Hasankeyf is an ancient settlement carved into the rocks, on the southern bank of the mighty River Tigris, in the southeast of Turkey. It is under threat of drowning when the Ilisu Dam (70 km. downstream) is completed.

sad as it is, the local kid I talked there with, although having said he did not want the city to drown, was somewhat indifferent.
seems like, many wonders of the past are located in the troubles places of the present (economically, socially, etc...), therefore are threatened not to cease in the future.
