Acrylics on Canvas BoardAnd a tiny bit of explanation, as this is an illustration to a story that only exists in my brain.
Uther discovers that Merlin is a sorceror. Normally he wouldn't hesitate, but he knows how close Merlin is to Arthur, and it will be easier to take action when Arthur is out of the way. When Arthur rides off with a few knights to check out reports of bandit activity on the borders, Uther decides it's the ideal opportunity to drug Merlin so that he can't use magic, and then burn him at the stake. However Arthur's horse goes lame and he returns early...

This really looks like it could be an episode screenie (*SPOILER FOR SEASON 3*though after season 3 I'm not sure Uther's really up to being king he's kinda off in his own world now *SPOILER*) Arthur can be a prat a lot of the time but it's thungs like these that bring out his better side. and the things that bring Uther dangerously close to having a full scale rebellion on his hands.

I'm sorry this never happened in Season Three, it would have been so cool.
Mind you, that's the good thing about fanfiction, fanart I suppose, we can deviate from the series wherever we like, and create stuff set before characters die, and go off on whole different tangents than the series does.
Oh yes, I think if Arthur had leapt up on the pyre and openly disobeyed Uther then it might have ended up turning into a civil war..Uther loves Arthur, but he'd be too proud to let that go.

yep fanfiction is awsome! and I get the feeling BBC has been freqenting fanfiction.net for ideas on fanservice. My fanfic "A Modern Day Wizard in King Arthur's Court" is kinds set partway throguh season 4 and slightly my idea of season 5.
yeah, I think if this had happened this is EXACTLY what Arthur would have done.

I'm enjoying the current season of Merlin. There's been the odd duff episode, but most episodes have been pretty brilliant.

I haven't seen that one. (I was thinking of A Connecticut yankee in King Arthur's court) I do like those films where someone goes back in time, Peggy Sue got married, and films like that.

but yeah A kid in King Arthur's court was based on Mark Twaine's story. It's really good you should defiently see it and I've been trying to find the Whoopie Goldberg version too.

It's just one of those classic ideas that must occur to everyone and which would be just lovely to see on the actual show.

I like it, especially the amount of details in the armor and the background (also the reflections from the fire ... in the Merlin TV Series Lancelot also rescued his queen ... maybe there is more then friendship between Arthur and Merlin

In the new series that's just started, Lancelot seems VERY protective of Merlin and wanting to look after him.

I adore this, this is so pretty with the colours, you're so talented, can I have your brain (no? dammit...) I wish I could do something this attractive. Story wise, this is a very interesting idea, I for some reason like the possibility of Merlin being burnt (don't particularly know why) but being saved at the last second, and by Arthur (swoons) I would consider writing about this situation, apart from the fact that I have a hoard of people constantly chanting at me to finish my million other fan fictions like using magic chants will make me work, that I really should be writing about why cats need nutrients for college... (Cat no works without nutrients, doesn't seem to cut it)
However, I would really love to read about this, you've made me so curious. Once again, its soooo pretty. I love it! Btw, I'm incredibly impressed by the fire and smoke
