I'm participating in a contest focusing on the concept of self-sacrifice as a facet of true love. I wanted to incorporate this into my horse series, but when I think of self-sacrifice for love, I think of the American bison, that will fiercely defend their calves against all threats, often forming large rings around their calves when attacked by groups of predators. So I'm gonna paint a mother cow risking her own safety to defend her calf against a pack of wolves, even if she has to do it alone. X3My money's on the bison.
Sorry, no doodles in this one! ;; I might have to upload another WIP of it later, just so I can vandalise it. X3

hmmm. I quie like this, although if you would be open to any critique... I have to say I find it off that in the presence of wolves, the mother bison is looking right at the viewer. at least right now thats how it appears. her eyes are sort of following the wolf but the head-on view of her is somewaht confusing. the calf also seems to be looking away, like theres something far more onteresting off to the right. maybe a cougar!!

You know, I actually semi did that on purpose because I have this serious fetish with the way bison eyes look when they're rolled back in their head, looking behind them at you like they're gonna kill ya; I don't know why they do it so often, but it gives them their signiture psycho look. XD If it doesn't work out how I picture it, or I don't get enough detail in, I'll have to change their head positions, though. >_>;
