Beautiful! How come one side looks cartoony and the other looks realistic? I love it though!

I made one of these a few months ago Used crayolas and didnt think about finishing it with varnish though, great ideas. You only coloured one side, right?
Like the pose and anatomy work The paws are awesome.
Amazing gallery!

HI~ all cheated by a piece of shrinking plastic?
[link]
haha... if i'm not wrong your original piece is twice the size or much more bigger than this key chain...

$2 dollar to get your plastic in spore's ART friend shop....

and after drawing and colouring... you baked it and it will shrink.... [link]

don't get cheated by all this... you can do it too...
i do it for selling during my school days.

How am I "cheating" people? XD I tell people how I make them quite willingly. I charge for the work I put into them, the drawing and shading skills some may not have and for those who don't want to go out and pay for key rings, jump rings, and rather expensive laquer and high-gloss varnish that I finish and protect each of my products with. X3 They're much more durable and long-lasting than normal shrinky-dink plastics when I'm done.

well i think you don't really understand what i mean.... that piece of plastic is ofcos very nice after painting and whatever hard work... but it's still cheap plastic...

i not only paint it... i sell it for a living in my school years.... so it's not very magical...

sorry if i have said anything about your art work which i think i never.... and maybe i'm just not happy to see art works like this on the net....

those that don't know about this plastic really thinks you are great.
which i felt is a wrong ARt way of presenting yourself...

Yes, but I TELL people what plastic I'm using. There's no misrepresentation. o.O; I've hardly ever met anyone who hasn't heard of it; it's pretty commonly known. It's been around since I was little, and most of my friends had used it when they were kids. And who cares if it's "cheap?" It lasts a long time, doesn't scratch after it's been coated in multiple layers of finishing varnish, won't break, doesn't fade, and it looks almost as good as any keychain you can get in a store. *shrug*

Good thing I'm majoring in veterinary medicine and not graphic design then, eh? If I'm not gonna make any money in life, at least I'll have fun doing it.

So, did you put it on both sides or just the one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Nylak In reply to Stabbled [2007-06-11 17:16:59 +0000 UTC]

You draw the inking on one side, and colour it on the other. Since the plastic is transparent, you can see the colouring through it on the inked side, but it's more difficult to see the inking on the coloured side...it's kind of strange that way. XD

Ahh! So that's how you get it so symmetrical

Stabbled In reply to Stabbled [2007-06-10 22:48:52 +0000 UTC]

Whoa, duh.. I somehow figured the other pic was a seperate keychain x_x. Good job in that case, they look almost identical aside from the lack of inking on the right one. Did you ink it with a sharpie?

Nylak In reply to Stabbled [2007-06-11 17:17:59 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, didn't see this one; they are the same keychain, just reversed sides. They look pretty different as a result of the weird inking effect, huh? XD

bautiful
what is it made of?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nylak In reply to catuvalencia [2007-06-11 17:19:20 +0000 UTC]

It's Shinky-Dink brand plastic, coated with multiple layers of high-gloss varnish and finishing lacquer to lengthen its life and incresae its durability. =3 I use a sharpie to do the linework, and Prismacolor coloured pencils to colour/shade.

Wow...do you draw these straight onto the plastic, or onto some kind of special paper that magically turns into plastic? o.O

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nylak In reply to HonouTenshi [2007-06-11 17:20:20 +0000 UTC]

Special "paper" that, when baked, thickens and becomes a bit smaller. XD It's godly stuff, but kind of tricky to get used to.

Ooh...neat-o! XD Where did you get it? I think I've used something like that before......at someone's birthday party a loong time ago. ^^

It's pretty fun to do once you get used to the process. XD
