yes, probably more so than anything else; but i have to say, i really like the fence ... that's what reminded me of Gone With The Wind and therefore, the title.

thanks for taking the time to comment.

btw, if you get time, please stop by my homepage - i don't have any visitors from Malta as yet

ah, well, so much for my explanation

the movie is somewhat dated (made in 1939), and very long (3-4 hours), but despite those things is still an excellent film ... might not have the impact on someone that isn't American, though, admittedly

nevertheless, if you're going to be stuck inside on a long rainy afternoon, it's a good way to view a great film with some outstanding performances (Clark Gable, Vivian Leigh, etc)

yes, i tend to ramble

It is an oldish film ..... I guess that means it is based on things to do with America.

yes - our Civil War ... 1860-65

So that is why non-Americans would probably not enjoy it as much

yes ... probably; more that they might get lost as to why things are happening and for what reasons; since i know the history, i can't recall how much historical info the film relays.

regardless, it won the Oscar for best film that year (beating out, among others, The Wizard of Oz - and it actually won *eight* Oscars!) and is regarded among film historians as one of the top 20 or 30 films of all time, i'm sure - despite not having the current technological advantages. if you don't like older movies, you might not enjoy it - but movies today had the bar set at a level by movies like this ... the character development, acting, script all more than make up for the lack of shoot-em-ups and car chases

the whole thing revolves around a woman on a large plantation and how her family's fortunes change over the course of the War. there is a long shot of the plantation at the end (and the beginning, i believe) that shows a red-orange sky with a large tree and a fence line that my photo reminded me of. and the name of the plantation? Tara.

It definitely does sound like an interesting film and now I can understand why the photo reminds you of the film

Lovely shot - I like the dark clouds in the top leftish area... they give so much depth to the sky!
Wondering if you deliberately spelt texas with an ass? (not that i've ever been... Nevada or Wisconsin would be the closest..)
Good to see some folks from my old 'original' friends list still on here!! I thought you'd all disappeared! *waves*

yes, the misspelling is intentional the state of texass and i have had a somewhat .... uh ... strained relationship a number of times over the last 40 years or so. in fact, you'll find i spell it like that in almost all shots i attribute to this area.

just my own private war ... probably just because i got old and STAY pissed off now . kind of like the old hippie revolutionary from the 60s (abbie hoffman) who once said "spitting on the sidewalk and getting away with it is a victory for the revolution".

we take our victories in very small, minute portions - that's all the rich bastards in power let us have.

- saw a good documentary on abbie hoffman & gang: 'Chicago 10' - which was in many ways enlightening. Sometimes i wish i grew up in the 60's
*on with the revolution!*
