When do we see the Sniper use any form of math? It's just kind of assumed he can, even though it's implied that he honed his skills as a hunter, not a military Sniper, making him more along the lines of a sharp shooter.
All of the TF2 team is willing to help allies.
We're told they're all the best at what they do.

Maybe because they're both antissocial, foreign, unuseful characters? xD
Despite the joke, it's 'more or less' this reason. The sniper is one of the less 'team' classes in TF2 (or at least most Sniper players are), and even the sniper himself says he works alone. In a simillar way, Twilight is the least 'friends-centered' of the mane6, specially in the first episodes.
Both also prefer to act in the back rather than in the front lines, and both are very focused in efficience, competence etc.
Finally, both have pointy things near their faces .p
