Description READ ME FOR MORE INFORMATION!

Hopefuly this will be helpful for those of you who want to make aries horns (or other horns) for cosplay, or maybe halloween costumes! This part shows you how to make the clay model for your horns so that you can get the latex mold from these!

RIGHT! first things first, you want to get your materials right!
I used for this section:
*Air Dry Clay (which cost £6.99 for 1.5 KG, But its cheaper online!)
*wood
*Metal piping
*Random sculpting tools (basicaly things my dad found in his shed, have a look around your house, lots of things can be used!)
*water ( for when bits get dry and/or you want to smooth bits out!)

First of all, we nailed together the wood and the metal piping, the metal piping we used was just spare in our house, and its just used so you have something strong to build your horn onto, otherwise it WILL fall apart! It was already coiled, but copper pipeing is easy enought to bend into shape!
Then, what you want to do is just cut away small parts of the clay and stick on the genral shape... then sculpt more detail, but i would advise that you leave the detailing to the minimum... Im going to add extra detail to mine with paint! NOW once you have all of this compleate, just leave to dry! (should take about 2-4 days to FULLY dry ^-^)! Now you have your base, And in the next section I'll talk you through hope to aply your liquid latex and get a good mold from your sculpture! =]

Thank you for taking a look, and if you are going to make your own, send me a picture! Good luck!!!! Xxx ^_^

So sorry for the lateness of this reply! I've had this project on hold for a WHILE, but I'm getting back into it now.

Because mine are now just latex tubes, i was orriginally planning to fill them to make a mold... however i think the latex by itself looks good enouhg, so Im going to stuff it with hollow fiber (soft toy stuffing) just so its not flimsy, and then put a wire rod (just an old wire cloths hanger will be fine) inside, just to make sure it keeps its general shape!

Then im going to attach them both to a kind of hair band... (My hairstyle works quite well for this... I have short-ish choppy platinum hair so a thin white hairband will hardly show up...) This should then give the illusion that the horns are coming from your head (rather than your forehead)

I reolise this might not work for you depending on what kind of horns you want or your hair type etcetera, if you DO want to actually attach them to your face with skin glue or latex glue, I fear that they will be to heavy (depending)...

Hope that helps anyway
(Sorry again for the lateness )

Hey. I'm thinking of making a similar type of horn for a costume of my OC Tabris ([link] ). I was wondering how thick the wire frame you used was; the problem I am having with my design is that the horns are very large and I think I have to get the balance right on the initial model for them to sit properly on the head

sorry for how rediculously late this comment is, Soon ill be making the other horn for this peice, so ill upload photos of the frame i shall use. it was basically a copper pipe, bent around into the horn shape with a nail at the very end (so that the tip of the horn wouldnt just fall of).... This however was still VERY week, and I would come downstairs in the morning from letting some clay set to part of the clay having fallen off....

The key to this is to be persistant in going back and makingsure its not falling apart, or do what i eventually ended up doing and wrap it up in a damp teatowel, then put a thick plastic bag around it and tape it all up so its secure... this will mean it wont fall apart but WILL take longer to try...

Also, when it drys with cracks, dont worry to much... just fill in the big cracks to make it secure, small cracks wont matter so much as they wont show up when you put the latex over it!

Hope that helped!
(Again, sorry for the lateness! )
