Description Although I have lived in Vancouver my whole life I did not know that we had a Blue Heron rookery in Stanley Park ... that is until last Tuesday! It was incredible and they are such astonishingly beautiful and strange birds.

The call they make is very reminiscent of the Velocaraptors in Jurassic Park! They have such a prehistoric look about them.

It was a blast seeing them ... I love Herons but they can be hard to photograph as they are usually very shy... but they were so busy building their nest the are oblivious to the rest of the world.

How goes life on your side of the world ... cooler these days ...
I checked out your Critter Emporium ... Fun!!!

Sorry I have been so absent of late. The new job seems to consume a lot of time and I have been trying to get my artwork together (printing it and embellishing it).

Hugs!!!

Critters never seem to keep to the script!

Hey thanks so much for leaving the great and groovy comments at the "Emporium"
You rock mate!

Even before I read your description, I thought they looked a little dinosaur-like, especially in this photo. I like it, through. I've never really seen one from that angle before.

Thank you ... as usual ... love to get your comments.

I have been so busy lately ... new job is working out well and I have a show coming up on June 1st ... it was a short-notice thing as the artist who was suppose to do it cancelled so I got the spot.

It is a bit of a panic as I have to get a bunch of stuff printed and then stretch it (I print it on canvas) and then I hand embellish it (overpaint). It is great fun but a lot of work.

You must be just about finished with school? Have you picked your college yet. Hope all is going well with you and life is good.

Hugs!

I'm glad you do. It's always nice when someone actually reads my comments.

That's great! I can understand what you mean about panic before a show, I was in panic the whole day before the school art show. It would've been funny if I wasn't freaking out. That does sound like a lot of work on your part, I hope you get it all done in time!

Tomorrow (May 19) is actually my last day of high school ever. I was excited about a month ago and now I'm sad. It's funny how that works. I've decided to go to community college for two years. Since I can't drive and I'd hate to leave my family and my girlfriend behind and be completely alone, I decided it was the best choice, and it'll save a lot of money too. Plus, I have absolutely no idea what I want to do as far as a major so this will give me time to think of it.

Life is going pretty good. I've been a little sad about school unexpectedly, and a bit stressed, but otherwise I can't complain.

Sorry for the delay in responding ... my show was postponed but I spent 2 weeks getting everything prepared and ended up with a bad back Bah! Humbug!

Starting to feel better though. I have tons of ideas, now I just need to be sure I am okay before I spend too much time on the computer.

Communtity college sounds great ... sometimes you get a better education when you don't have to worry about paying rent and managing a life away from friends and family (if you know what I mean).

I know what you mean about being sad ... it is a major step in "growing up" when you leave that part of your life (school) behind! You will find, probably, that things don't change too much and once you settle into the "new" life it will consume you in a way that your "old" life did ... just differently.

Wow ... I am babbling a bit tonight but it has been so long since I talked to you that I thought I would ramble a bit.

Hugs and all the best!

It's okay! I have been horrible about responding, too. I've been getting an insane amount of messages by the day, I get about 100 within 24 hours lately, so I really have to get motivated to go through them.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! Did you have the show anyways?
I saw that you have a new piece but I haven't really looked at it yet. I have like 200 deviations to view and I've been too lazy to go through them unless someone like personally asks me to go look at the thing they just posted.

Community college is definitely a better choice for me at the moment. I thought I'd be excited to set out on my own, but I'm just kind of bummed out about graduation and not ready at all t leave (I'm just now learning to drive!). Sadly, though, my girlfriend was pressured by her unsupportive mother to go into a state university starting this summer, so I'll be seeing less of her and it's above all else a big bummer (on top of leaving my old school and a lot of my friends moving). I'm sure I'll get used to it but for now it is not fun at all to deal with. But I love that girl so we'll make it work out.

It's fine! I am a rambler too. I'm pretty sure you didn't need to know a good chunk of that last paragraph.

Remember ... change is the only thing consistent in life!!! One of my favourite (of all times) sayings. It all works out in the end (usually).

All is better here ... my back is very much improved and I am working on some art. The show we had in June was postponed until August which is a good thing!

Other than that not much is up ... have a good summer and I'll keep in touch. Hugs!

That's true. It's amazing how much life has changed in just the past month, let alone the past year.

That's great! So that means you'll be able to attend if it's in August, right? I'm glad that you're feeling a lot better.

My summer is not at its best right now, but I'm making the best of it that I can. I had my wisdom teeth out so for now I can't do much of anything but sleep and laze around, but when I do recover I plan on lots of art and a nice trip to NYC.

NYC! Wonderful ... I have only spent a (short) day there ... it is amazing. TAKE YOUR CAMERA!

Hope all is well with the teeth ... yuck!

It is a great city, I agree. I've been three times, but only for two or three days at a time. This time I am going to be there for about a week, and my cousin who I'm staying with is living in a very nice, artistic area, so I should be able to get lots of great shots and maybe get some nice inspiration.

They are mostly better now, occasionally it still hurts but it'll stop in time.
