Well, the book that I originally read it used a barn owl in the illustration, and it's the most common owl in Wales.

That, and the barn owl has the most flower-like face of any owl.

Except for, possibly the Congo Bay owl, and the elusive Taiwanese Plumeria Elf.

Poorly known species, Micrathene taiwanensis. Was observed once, snatching insects visiting night-blooming flowers.
