hehe yep stitch is the man!!! i did have some trouble trying to figure out how to do it but i couldnt find any sites to help me...i eventually figured out how to do what my teacher said.
i used Word, set the picture as the background (you may have to resize the pic in a different program) and then the picture was the guide as I typed on top of it. Then I just copied and pasted all the letters to a new Word document. i found it easier to make the lines of text closer together and i used size 10 font.
just make sure to use the space bar and not the tab key. i did a couple images, you can either keep changing the color as you go along or at the end just change the colors.
if you read some of the comments below you will see one girl got on to me about how this isn't real ascii art...she actually reported this image to deviantart and made them move it into the typography category...when i looked at other images in the ascii category she put similar comments on quite a few others :\ but whatever...my stitch rocks!!!

yes he went over it and had us do this outside of class. this was my very first attempt at it ever so i'm sure there are problems with it. took me a while to even figure out how to start it but hey that is what school is for.

I have made an ASCII art tutorial , in case you're interested. I hope you don't consider this as spam, I just think that it would be useful to you in case you want to draw some real ASCII pictures.

We were to make art that was more advanced than just outlines of simple figures. Other than me not using fixed width font, there is nothing wrong with my work. A pretty good site for doing ascii art is [link]
I don't have the time to worry about who thinks my work is "real" or not. If you don't like my art then I highly advise you not to look at it. Thank you.

thanks! for the fave too! i had to make 3 ascii pics, and this one probably came out the best. I want to post the other 2 but they need to be touched up a bit first.

I was getting a little impatient, more towards the bottom...trying to do all four paws was the hardest part since everything was all overlapping...
