aaa thanks!!

And BGs for me are a process of what vibe I want the piece to give off and many sloppy sketches, I think of doing bgs like directing a movie -- where do I want the light to be from, what kind of angle do I want on it?

I usually also start out by shading stuff w really rough greyscale to get an idea of how the lighting will be before refining anything! Here's some more recent sketches/lineart for BGs I've done:

I'd also say that a lot of the time you don't need the whole piece of the picture to get an idea across! Usually after sketching a general environment I play with tilting it and cropping it in different ways before getting something I like and going with it. This way you're also spared from the risk of burning yourself out on something huge when you can just focus on a few important things to get the vibe you're looking for!

Other than that I'm still p new to doing bgs this way so I don't have many other tips other than keep drawing and take notice of stuff that inspires you environmentally, whether it be IRL or a picture passing by on social media.
