You might want to watch on phoenix-06 and keepwalking07, they do stars and novas quite often, keep has even put up a tutorial on his method, might be a good one to check out.
Overall I'd say if you're going to use fractals it'd be a good idea to render high and make sure not to blur them or leave them out in the open. The brush strokes are very visible on the larger planet, refine them more and get a better flow into it, possibly have the sun/nova eat it a tad more to cover the transition.
Keep it up, always good to see some new space artists coming onto the scene.
