Hey guys! I do apologize for being quite inactive lately (art wise) I'm currently reaching the end of my school course, and we're also getting ready to move house...again. So things have been a bit hectic and busy, my recolor comic is still going; but I haven't gotten around to doing the next page yet and probably won't until things settle down (a few weeks tops), I appreciate the patience.
Anyway, I want to share with you a sculpture I had been (slowly) working on for a few months! Made with wire, pipe-cleaners and felting wool! He's a fully poseable soft sculpture of everyone's favourite villain, Scar! This was SO much fun to do! If I hadn't procrastinated on him for so long, he would have only taken around two weeks to complete. It's similar to the Mufasa sculpture I did a while back: nostalgicchills.deviantart.com… but this one is much better in my opinion, I planned the armature better so he wouldn't have dwarfed legs like the Mufasa one did! The only real problem is that he doesn't stand up very well, it took a lot of fidgeting and careful positioning to get him to stand like that, his front legs are too flimsy and weak under the weight of his head.

And please note, I don't want to see any: "you should do this character next.." comments. I appreciate the interest, but it's not really a matter of which character I want to do, but more if I'm able to do it. I have a very limited color selection and skill level for this craft, so characters to make are up to me; and me alone. As it is, next characters I have planned (and have the right colors to make) are Kion and Stitch, so that might be fun

I've been needle felting for years and I haven't been able to achieve such a smooth finish; any tips? c:

Cool, a fellow needle felter! Do you use Merino wool? That's the wool I use, and it's naturally pretty smooth.
He actually isn't sturdy at all, he falls over 9 out of 10 times. If I were to make him again, I would strengthen his legs with stronger wire and add WAY more wool to them, or just do a head bust. My sculptures aren't really built for durability, so I don't really have any helpful tips right now; I'm afraid. If you were to handle any of my sculptures for too long, they'd fall apart or warp easily. For my next felting project, I'm going to experiment with using foam and felt sheets as a base for the sculpture, if that goes well; Ill give you some tips for sure!

Nd I do use Merino wool but it always has stray fibres all over it no matter how long I spend trying to get it smooth xD

The way you've built him though; he looks so dense and weighted (in a very good way!) and that's what I aspire to have my sculptures look like too, haha : )
