i love klimt and his rogue companions of that inventive period..
i love this. the yellow tones are a perfect nod in that direction. you seem like such a kindred spirit.. i miss taking art history courses. i've been out of school for over 2 years now, which seems bizarre, at best.

I saw an exhibition of nearly all his work, paintings and furniture included, in Liverpool last summer. It was amazing.
I'm on holiday for the summer now, and without art college and constant exposure to work, it is very strange....

I've really missed your photography though.
And i know the feeling... you leave college and you're no longer surrounded by all those other creative people to inspire you and feed off of. You just need to find inspiration in other places... it'll come to you.
Also try just doing some fun stuff.. even if it doesn't seem like the best work.. just go with what you like and eventually something will come of that too. You're super talented so i know the old fire will come back to you soon enough.

I know what you mean. When I started studying photography, I had already done it for a few years. I got in to the course on the strength of my portfolio alone, without having the academic requirements. Everyone else in the course was the opposite.
I got straight A's for 18 months without learning anything, then quit. I realised that this place was not going to make me a better photographer, and that all the final-year students' work looked identical - a specific style with no commercial merit that was not the style I wanted to shoot either.
Having a qualification is nice, but no piece of paper is going to open more doors for you than your images, especially if the images are as good as yours. I'm not saying quit the course, I'm just saying be realistic about why you're doing it.
Personally my development was on ice while I was studying photography. I was sooo snowed under doing photographic assignments shooting things I already knew I knew how to do, that I had no time to take risks and try new things. As soon as I quit the course, I began learning and improving again.
I used to want to be a professional photographer. Now, I'm a professional graphic designer and web designer, and I reserve photography for my creative outlet. I often do photography in the course of my work, but only if I'm sure it's going to be fun. You've got to keep something for yourself. You may not be able to do that while studying, but you'll find a way to do it in your career.
And don't forget Art is Murder if you want a change of scene, I'd still love to see you over there. Just note me.

My course has taught me alot.. I love film. I just find the time limits stifeling. I used to want to be a pro-photographer but I'm not so sure any more... I love art history, fine art, textiles.... I'd say college has done me so much good but some bad aswell..
thanks for your advise.
