Aww...failure...The effect doesn't turn out to be good, neither does the likeness.
Anyway, if you don't consider him as Ian McKellen, he still looks like Gandalf.

Yea, so maybe he doesn't look like Ian, but I personally like it better not looking like him. It makes Gandalf more of a character instead of a style of Ian. See? :]

Ya know, this one makes him look more scruffy; good for trying to root him down as a more common wizard helping out others. He almost looks like my uncle now! Props for drawing my uncle ;-P

Failure can be a good thing some times. I like that he does'nt look like Ian in makeup.. there's way to many portrets of those around. Not that some ain't good, but.. Gandalf is an fictional character, a myth and an idea..
If it looks like gandalf, then your good. So, your good. I like your version.
Now I'm of browse'n more gandalfs'ess..

I know what you mean, I just thought I tended to draw him a likeness of Ian but the result was not so satisfied. But I agree with you as long as it looks like Gandalf, it's not bad.

Not bad. The colors are fantastic, but the face is a bit mis-shaped. The eyes are very tilted while the mouth is not, which gives it a stretched look.

I think it does bear some resemblance to Ian McKellen, but it's definitely Gandalf alright!
And I'm not kidding when I say that it looked like a photo from the thumbnail!
You've done a marvellous job with making it look 3D and it looks like Gandalf could just leap out of the screen any minute!
