Michael of the Royal house of Tudor

Our character is based off of the period in England in which the Tudor Monarchs, a line of kings ruling from 1485-1603. His features and design is especially referenced from Edward XI.

Our concept for this character is that he was born into the Tudor royal family as the younger of two brothers. In order to eliminate future competition for the crown, Michael was rejected at birth and abandonned on on the streets of England. He is taken in by a travelling circus. Under the poor conditions, he experiences corruption, exploitation, and the uglier sides of humanity. He has a short childhood.

Malnourished, after years of mistreatment he then goes on to work as a paper boy printing and delivering newspapers to escape his circus life. During that time, he by chance one day miraculously encounters his brother on the streets. They become close to one another until his brother is tragically found dead under questionable circumstances. (Perhaps muredered in a polital plot) As he is once again introduced into the royal family through the connection of his brother and becomes the King of England at the young age of twelve because there were no other male heirs to the throne.

This character is moody and lighthearted yet strict and solemn. He holds a grudge against the royal family for abandoning him and playing an indirect part in his brother's death, yet does not resent his brother. He is unashamed of his past experiences at the circus and as a paper boy and doesn’t want to hide who he was. He has strong moral values and is still bitter about the death of his brother and wishes to avenge him.

This character likes to act like an adult to command respect, but sometimes is childish and has unrealistic juvenile ideals I wanted to show that there is too much power in his hands. He still wants revenge for everything horrible that has happened to him in the past.

The comparison with Icarus is, for someone who has risen so far in life, it is too easy to fly close to the sun and fall from glory.
