The obligatory 'I Love Robert Carlyle' portrait. I got really impatient towards the end so I didn't finish the suit, the hair is quite dodgy and it generally is just... a bit meh. I may work on it more over time and upload an updated version but this is enough to get the need to draw him out of my system.Related content

He is I enjoy his childlike attitude when he was in fairyland as rumpelstiltskin I love how he calls most dearie and that creepy laugh is just so interesting and I enjoy Mr. Gold's sense of humour when Graham tells him he thought Mr. Gold was the wolf, Mr. Gold said did he forget to shave lol I was laughing there. but you feel very sorry for him for losing his son Bealfire.

One of mine, too! And I love his accent to boot!~ One of the few, if not the only, authentic Scottish accents I've seen in the movies/tv.

Really? Sean Connery, John Hannah, Billy Boyd, David Tennant, Gerard Butler, Billy Connolley (occasionally), Ewan McGregor... unfortunately a lot of Scottish actors end up having to put fake accents on because Scots can be difficult to understand. I find it a shame that Robert Carlyle waters down his accent in his American work. I guess I can understand that, though, his natural accent is incredibly thick.

I didn't notice Ewan McGregor had a Scottish accent, but I haven't watched his work in years, though a lot of the other names I just can't recall their voices because I next to never watch any movies or television, period, classic or not. I've only recently been watching more of the more popular artists recently anyway. I'll have to look them up.
I agree, though, it is a shame that many Scots have to water their accents down, but I rarely have much of a problem understanding them. Some accents I have a hard time understanding like thick Mexican accents or some accents that come from various African countries, but the typical one that people can't normally understand, I'm usually fine with. Even when I would watch Robert's interviews on YouTube, I only had problems understanding him when he talked quickly, but that goes for anyone.

Yeah I'm the same. I'm Irish, so I hear Scottish accents a lot more, so it's possibly easier for my ears than American ears to follow a really thick Scottish accent, but I never really have trouble unless Robert flies through sentences in interviews, and he usually doesn't. He got told when he first tried out for acting that he'd have to lose the accent or he'd never have a career, and he basically said balls to that lol!
