What haaaaappened? One second I was playing P3P, minding my own business, then all the sudden I was drawing this. For some reason, Ryoji's social link really hooked me, I've always loved the idea of death personified, falling in love with a mortal. It's just...epic? I actually didn't like Ryoji much when I played the original Persona 3 years ago, but given the chance to play as a character of my own sex has definitely changed my mind.Also, the female protagonist is a total slut, amirite? Maybe it's just the way I play her.
And also also, I put the song "The Weight of Us" by Sanders Bohlke on repeat while drawing this because I'm convinced it fits this pairing completely. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must stop thinking about Ryoji and Minako (or mshe, whatevs) before I start another fanfic I probably won't finish!

I think the tragedy aspect for both of them is what makes this pairing rather special.
That said I always liked Ryoji since the original P3 and if there had to be a male character to pair Minako with it would definitely be him.

I agree completely. In fact, my two favorite love interests for the female MC of P3P are 1) Ryoji and 2) Shinji, because I feel that the bittersweet nature of both relationships in either case kind of cancels out the sad ending of the game and makes it happier. If that makes any sense. Knowing the MC's fate, I almost feel bad if she ends up with Akihiko or Ken, solely because both would have to go on without her. But there's a sort of tragic beauty to the pairing of Ryoji and her that really resonates with me as a writer.

I really liked how they fleshed out Ryoji's personality in his FemC Social Link; it made him quite an interesting and complex character.
I cried so hard when he admited his love for the FemC, and is eventually slain by her hand; no video game has made me cry like that before.
My #1 VG OTP, forever.
