HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!
In remembrance of my dearest departed mom's birthday (she would have been 83 today).
The canvas I used for this repaint of my mom is Ashton Drake's Gene doll (shown on bottom right) because of its subtle yet versatile mold. The doll's original factory paint was completely removed and then precision repainted to replicate my mom's features. Meticulous and careful hair styling completed the doll's look.
The inset photo of her on the bottom right was used as reference.
Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

He hasn't. There is only so much paint can't change. The doll he actually painted on has a different nose and face shape, meaning he can only create the lips and eyes 100% accurately.

Then the doll originally did not look like her. Although, you're right, he did a good job editing it.

It would have been too difficult to find a doll to look like that. Most dolls have that face shape and normally human-based dolls are celebrity based, and she may not look like any celebrities with dolls. But the painting is amazing.
